General Information

Rehabilitation services
Rehabilitation services offered through the Division of Head and Neck Surgery include an emphasis on speech and language pathology. Speech and language pathologists assist in rehabilitation of swallowing and voice problems, and management of the altered airway. Maxillofacial prosthetics allows us to focus on restoration of unique portions of the facial form and function including teeth, nose, and ears.

Nursing
The nursing support for the head and neck division includes our nurse practitioners, registered nurses, and multiple other patient care assistants who help to make patients feel comfortable and shepherd them through the process involved in the care of their head and neck condition from the clinic appointment and through their treatment and follow up.

Research
Research activities in the Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery are a major focus of our scholarly activities. Within the area of head and neck, we have two research divisions that manage our activities and plan for a comprehensive approach to develop future research endeavors. The clinical research division is comprised of a physician director, full-time manager and assistant, and a part-time patient intake coordinator. Six physicians and one PhD scientist are actively involved in clinical trials. The basic research division is comprised of a physician leader, six additional physicians and two PhD's engaged in investigator initiated projects.
